     Planimetric aerial photography

Comparison of our photo to GoogleComparison of our photo to Google

Planimetrics...sounds scientific, doesn't it? Actually, it is, but for the lay person, it simply means Vertical photography--photographs taken at a 90degree angle to the ground.

Using our 21mp professional Canon cameras pointed earthward thru our camera port in the belly of the airplane, the pilot flies directly over the site. Because they are taken as low as 1000 feet above the ground, the images are amazing sharp, clear and highly detailed. Other vendor products are often  1-6 years old, colorless and rather unexciting, but your  Aerial Images custom photos will be current as of today and contain a full 32-bit color spectrum.

The photo to the left is a comparison between an actual GoogleEarth images and an Aerial Images custome photograph. Looking at each product side-by-side, can you tell any difference? You decide for yourself which is better. Then you need to decide what you want; low cost, low quality or high quality but costlier.

One valuable benefit from our custom photographs is the ability to accurately measure distances between any 2 points. To begin, all you need to do is measure 2 point of which you have a known distance, such as a golf course link, you know is 750 feet. On your monitor or printed photograph, measure that distance and let's say it is 3".  The scale, then,  for that specific photograph is 3"=750feet or 1"=250feet.  You can now apply that ratio to any 2 points on the image. For example, if  2 points measure 2. 75", then using that scale and a calculator (or slide rule), the distance would be 687.5 feet.

Remember, though, that ratio would only apply for that particular image and even if you have a similar image, you need to determine its' specific scale.

This is not possible with obliques because distances vary between the foreground and background and measurements would be worthless. This procedure is only possible with Planimetric Photography.

Professionals who would make use of this kind of photography would be accident reconstructionists, urban planners, architects, construction companies and real estate developers.
